Helping organizational leaders walk their transformation talk.
Welcome to The Unlearning Institute

Welcome to The Unlearning Institute
We believe that the dominant systemic narratives of power and wealth are not only held as ideas but are embodied responses. We work with organizational leaders to unlearn dominant systemic narratives, culitivate the capacity to hold complexity, conflict and truth in order to strengthen their ability to walk their transformation talk
The problem of transformation has three aspects from our point of view.

The systemic problem
Our socio-economic systems were designed for extraction and inequality. The gross inequality we see is the result of a system working exactly as it was designed to.

The relational problem
We have lost the capacity to navigate conflict, difference and diversity with care. This relational illiteracy fractures trust, stifles collaboartion and prevents us from solving complex probllems together.

The spirit problem
We have internalized the violence of the world we live in and it shows up as spritiual emptiness, chronic burnout and the ever widening gap between stated values and observable behaviour.

White supremacy lives and thrives in the spaces between what leaders say and what they do. One must be an ally with more than just their mouth.
Our Values
Love as Praxis
The work of learning to unlearn requires that “we love each other through our ugly.” Love as a revolutionary daily practice of expanding one’s spirit to accept the other as part of the self
Ubuntu
Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu “I am because we are.” We work from the African worldview that the self is constituted through the collective. We are committed to shared humanity and interconnectedness.
Open, Honest Communication
We hold brave, dialogical spaces for engaging with the difficult topics- race, class, gender, power, capital. Radical honesty is the active dismantling of harmful power dynamics.
Spiritual Accountability
We embody coherence, aligning our beliefs, thoughts and actions with personal integrity and purpose
